good god, that's beautiful.
now i'm not a true nerd for all the various 1911 models that have been made available, but i'm guessing that's custom? is the scrollwork laser etched? moar details needed. :D

Custom hand engraving. Retail: $8K -- and for $2K more you get a small frame Colt revolver (Detective Special?) and a knife, similarly finished.

oh wow. definitely out of my budget...haha. utterly beautiful work, however. thanks for sharing!

Sure is a nice looking pistol. One would think though, that for $8k, they'd throw in a friggin' ambi safety... >:(
(Why yes, I am left-handed. How on earth did you guess? :P )

From the COlt custom shop? or somewhere else?
Back in the day my father used to sell high end Colt single action armies from the Colt Custom Shop- blueing that would make you salivate never mind anything else! WHen the SAA line of the custom shop closed up we took a ride up there and my father spent about $25k buying the really one off beautys they had up there (he had a gunstore in CT).
Those guns were wet dream quality...

То ли Вы его так сфотографировали, то ли он действительно красив, не смотря на гравировку...

Looks like a Commander length? Can't beat Colts when it comes to 1911's.

Whoa. I think that is the most beautiful 1911 I have ever seen. I am not usually an engraving fan but that is *perfect* - embellishing without over-embellishing. WANT.

Oleg, how was the magazine done up? Surely they wouldn't put a stock mag in such a beautiful gun?

What sort of treatment was done to make the pins look as they do?
The Engraving is beautiful, but the contrast of the pins (as well as the safety and slide-stop nubs) is REALLY striking.
Any pix of the other side?
Tue, Apr. 28th, 2009 09:54 pm (UTC)
I suspect the pins are titanium, I have some ti stuff that has the same effect.
Looks like fairly standard, but very well, done fire-blueing to me.
Freaking gorgeous 1911, though I think the tactical speed bump grip safety detracts a little bit from the otherwise clean lines.
