Movie review: Hidden Blade

Strange film. Almost no bloodshed, atypical for a samurai movie.

Set in 1860s, it follows a man who has to choose between his legal obligations and his ethical obligations.

Other than the anachronism of a centerfire Sharps rifle in 1860s Japan, this film did a good job of making the period come alive. Good acting. Not sure what I liked about it, but the film was engrossing and one comes to care about its characters.

Plot (9) - straight-forward, deals with ambiguities
Camera work - (8) Un-noticable
Casting and acting - 10

This morning, I got to watch Aaron bring the car down from 70mph to a stop very quickly. Good thing he is a good driver.

Camera, the same Sony P200...photo equivalent of a Kel-Tec P32.

Tire changed and the car ready to roll in nine minutes flat.

I wonder what kind of aircraft this is...

This creature was just outside my workplace. I have a Sony P200 camera in my pocket and snapped these:

The image is a bit noisy but usable...better than the 5D left behind. Color balance variations appear to stem from the different reflections of my face, hands and the silvery camera reflecting light.

I had a busy weekend. In bits and pieces, I managed to work with a new model...a young lady who hired me to do photos of her as a gift for her husband. She turned out to be the best model I've worked with in a long time -- photogenic, friendly and inspiring. In a few days -- after the images are conveyed to the lucky intended recipient -- I will post some of them here.

Thanks largely to hisamishness, the inimitable Leslie Fish sang at my birthday party this weekend. She is currently compiling "Lock and Load" CD of pro-RKBA music. I am working on the cover design for it now. One of the titles is "Hose-down". I filmed it with my pocket camera and it came out reasonably well.
