Achtung, TSA!

I removed this image from my blog and web site due to the threat of a lawsuit by the YMCA, the owner of the National Safe Place logo.

Addendum to #6: In the near future, male travelers will be able to forego prostate exams as well.

I hope you don't mind, but I used your graphic on my blog, with accreditation and a link back here to your blog. The image really captures the American airport experience! you can see it and read my little rant at http://mayantrip.com

Words simply cannot provide an adequate container to convey how much awesome is involved here. Siskel and Ebert give it two thumbs up!*

* - Well, Ebert gives it two thumbs up 'cause Siskel's like dead and stuff... actually Roper gives it two thumbs up 'cause Ebert's not doing all that well these days and is taking it easy

Charles Gaba : Awesome, but why all scratched up?

I love it, but I'm curious as to why it was designed to be all smudgy/scratchy...is the idea that it's supposed to be a weathered, beaten-up sign?

Fri, Nov. 19th, 2010 06:09 am (UTC)
olegvolk : Re: Awesome, but why all scratched up?

The original was based on a photograph of a real sign. I also made a cleaned-up version: http://olegvolk.livejournal.com/921394.html

(Anonymous): TSA mandates uniforms for all passengers

Since scanners have trouble seeing through some types of clothing, the TSA reacted by mandating "airport uniforms for all passengers".

I got the enhanced patdown on Sunday, probably courtesy of my underwire bra.

The next time I'm pulled aside for a patdown I will strip in front of the whole line rather than submit to it. (I assume once I get my shirt and bra off (which is still legal in many jurisdictions) they will get the point.)

(Anonymous): Acthung TSA graphic

While I understand there are travelers who have issues with the new TSA security screening procedures, as a member of the board of directors of National Safe Place, I take issue with the horrific portrayal of the Safe Place logo that you have obviously copyright infringed and altered. The Safe Place logo is known in communities to represent a safe haven for children seeking shelter and/or removal from dangerous family situations. You have altered the logo to represent the very kind of dangers that children seek to escape. You should remove this copyright infringement immediately.

FYI you did not "Design" this sign in 2008. This design was created in 1983 for the Safe Place Program in Louisville, KY. Might want to get your facts straight before you take creative liberties like that with a trademarked image.
