I so need to get one of these and jury-rig a green laser on one side of the barrel/handguard and a white light on the other.

No jury-rig required. Kel-Tec CNC will sell you a Picatinny Rail to go on your Sub-2000 if you want to go all Tommy Tacky with it. It has fine open sights from the factory though (ghost-ring rear, firesight-style front), and if you are going to spend money, fix the horrible, stagy, 12# trigger first, then buy the travel case ($25), then buy some Scherer magazines (if you own one of the Glock-charged Sub-2000s).

After that, like the musician says, practice, man, practice.

Can't put a decent optic on it and still fold it, so side mounted laser/light pairing it is.

12# trigger eh? Sounds like it will be a fun DIY project.

I always assumed that it had a seperate chamber the didn't fold (for better feeding) and wondered how they made sure it wouldn't fire while folded, but now I see that the chamber folds with barrel. Instead they appear to have seperated the feed ramp from the chamber (1911style). A very elegant solution that probably tosses the round at your feet if you work the action while it is folded.

Depends. Sometimes the extractor can just barely hang on to it.

Is that a charging handle sticking down from mid stock?

Advertising work for KT? Well, it's working. :-)

strangely, after seeing this carbine close up, I've gone from "maybe" to "nope". It seems kind of thrown together, although I'm sure it is well made, but I just can't get past the "pipes and plastic". Maybe if I shot one I'd change my mind...

That's how it was for my model Erika. She went from "it's a prop" to "I'd like this...could I re-design it for variable length of pull while keeping the foldablitiy?"

Plastic on Kel-tec rifles other than RFB looks plain. Metal finish is excellent. What I like is that they use common ammunition, they work reliably and weigh little. I used to like long, heavy rifle. Now that I carry a camera with long, heavy lenses, a tripod, a pistol, bottle of water and other such junk, heavy rifle isn't what I want. SU16 gets heavy enough once a sight and a muffler are added -- Sig556 starts out heavy.

Sub2000 does look like a collection of pipes. Outside of the receiver, so does Colt 635 SMG. The straight-line stock with some bolt over-travel means little felt recoil or muzzle rise. Basically, you pay your money (not very much in case of KT) and take your set of features.

I bought one (in 9 mm) used. I find your recoil comment odd as I have been looking at buying foam to throw on the back and top of the stock. I find Mosin Nagants more fun to shoot. The Sub2000 seems to tear at the shoulder and bust up my cheekbone. So I have to ask, am I doing something wrong?

Also when shooting left handed I get powder spray back in my face; worse than any AR type I've ever used.

Change your recoil spring. That is not normal behavior.

Recoil on mine is more brisk than on an MP5 but less than with Hi-POint carbine or Colt 635 SMG.

This little thing really appeals to me.
THAT's what a PDW is supposed to look like. It even comes in a grown up pistol caliber (not these varmint calibers like 4.6x30 or 5.7x28). The magazine-catch and safety are within reach of the strong hand and the two hands meet for reloading. In a world of magazine-incompatability somebody actually listened.
I miss a bolt-catch.
And all that for $330? I'd buy it for 406€ instead of the $406 MSRP KelTec recommends on their homepage!
I'm not suprised that there still is no Glock-carbine. It first would have to beat this.

Bolt catch is manual, it's a slot int he charging handle channel.
