The spoon is separating in flight -- there's quite a bit of friction there.

It's in process of flipping off -- about another 5 degrees of arc and it'll detach. If that's a practice fuze with a still-functional striker, it's already down on the primer.

Not one of my favourites (nothing beats the sepia Mosin-Nagent...nothing), but I do appreciate the originality of the image -a nice change from the usual. But platform boots and short shorts just ruin the image :(

Was it a live round by some million to one chance? Or are live grenades restricted?

I don't believe they're totally restricted. I believe you have to have a Class 3 and pay all sorts of taxes per "destructive device". You may also have to be a law enforcement/military registered dealer.

Common misconception.

A "Class III" special occupational tax is what a dealer pays in order to deal with NFA-regulated items.

Private citizens require only the approval of the ATF (which requires the payment of a $200-per-transfer tax and registration of the item with the ATF). The form the ATF gives you, with the attached tax stamp, is proof of having paid the tax. It's not a license. Subtle, but important distinction.

Grenades can be owned by private citizens, but are regulated as Destructive Devices under the NFA. Thus, it's pretty expensive for a one-time "boom" (cost of the grenade + $200 + fingerprinting/postage fees to complete the forms for the ATF). As far as I know, there's not really any commercial manufacturers making grenades for the private market, though some cottage industry manufacturers may exist.

Explosives are fun. :)

Awesome. The grenade, the look on her face, and the pistol in her hand make for a classic image.

Any way to get this image in color?

I don't know if this is the correct sculpture being referred to, but it might be it:

http://www.vor.ru/55/Sculptura/2.html (http://www.vor.ru/55/Sculptura/2.html)
It's near the bottom.

I notice her master grip needs adjusting. Her handgun isn't aligned with her forearm.

Or if she's right handed, she may had transfered the gun to her south paw for the throw.
