When on clicks on the small icon where pic should appear, I get an invitation to sign up for the "Gallery 2.0 Upgrader" which appears to require a download.

I love your work Oleg, but I'm not going to download something from a third party to view your stuff that is hot-linked from your blog.

That "upgrader" is for me (the site owner). My site already uses Gallery 2, but it got screwed up during the server move. I alerted my sysadmin, as I have no way to fix the problem myself.
