For me, the ergonomics and sighting arrangement were awkward. The main advantages are short length and good balance.

English version described at IMDB...but I expect that 90% of the acting nuances and details would be lost in translation. If anything, this film does a better job of representing the spirit of Merimee's book than the more traditional renditions.

Also, I just realized that the movies "Cuckoo" and "Chekist" were done by the same director...quite a surprise, as the former is an exercise in understatements and the latter is leaning towards literal visuals.
