Video card problem?

Originally published at VolkStudio Blog. You can comment here or there.

Just had both of my screens blink to black for a fraction of a second. It did so twice over about five minutes. Exhaust temperature from the fans is cool. Any thoughts on figuring out what’s going on?

(The PC has been reliable for a while otherwise).

Oleg,

My monitors did the same thing, at the same time you report.
Not kidding.
Was watching a movie on Netflix and using Firefox as my browser.
Running Window7 Ultimate as the OS.
First thought was also a video card issue, but temps and speeds are all good.

I would be VERY interested to hear if anyone has any ideas.

Check the event log, it sounds like the driver reset the hardware -- happens when the driver thinks the hardware has locked up.

Ditto Cramer's comment. Check the driver log. I think there are glitches in the comms between OS and video driver now and then, and the driver THINKS things have gone awry, so it pulls a fast reset just in case. Also, make sure the driver is up to date. - 1911Man
